    Hi, Jellylegs.

Go directly to Aviva. The specialist bike insurers charge a big fee for arranging this and Aviva has a good policy. I ended up paying an extra £50 on top of the premium and didn’t get as good cover as I would have going direct. I’ll be calling Aviva in November when renewal is due and beefing up my cover to add a pillion passenger…[Read more]

  • Hi, GroundAnchor.

I have a Model 30 (not City) that I use for getting around Dumfries. I don’t usually travel much outside town on it but I have been round the Caerlaverock Peninsula. I’m wondering if I can get as far as Moniaive on it. Keep us posted on your progress.

    Hi, @cinimodee.

It’s a standard model 30, not a City. It’s running well and I now have three modes of operation.

The default yellow setting gives me a top speed of 30 mph and pretty good ,mileage as I’ve not flattened the battery yet on journeys up to 20 miles or so,

Tapping the button once gets me the red mode which gives a power boost for the…[Read more]

Oops – something wrong with that last picture upload. I’ll try again from my real computer.

This should show the white wire pulled out where the left support for the luggage carrier passes into the seat, with the connection opened. In this state the Model 30 provides full power with options available by selecting green amber and red on the throttle.

    Thanks, Ken and Paul.

That was exactly what I needed to do. I had to fish for the thin white wire but it was there just behind the cable for the seat lock. I’ll try and upload a photo to show what you have to do.

Once the wire is disconnected the default yellow setting gives 45 km/hr. The green setting seems to be for saving energy and drops the…[Read more]

I’ve been getting my new Model 30 out and about between the storms and had my first proper run on it today. It’s a lovely thing to trundle around town on but there is one thing which I think I may not have set up correctly yet.

I’m only getting a maximum speed of 19 km/h, more like a Model 15 than a 30. I wonder if this has something to do with…[Read more]

OK – that’s my erider 30 registered, insured and on the road tax database. Looking forward to getting it on the road. I’m planning to get a lesson or two to make sure I’m operating it correctly.

Got the model 30 assembled at last with the help of a pal who has retired from the MOD and set up as a mobile motorcycle mechanic – a useful guy to know. Bike now registered with DVLA and I’m arranging insurance. I’m going to book a couple of lessons in the new year as this is a very different from push cycles and cars.

  • After being out of the picture for a week with the flu, I launched myself into assembling my Model 30 again. I have a much smaller adjustab;le spanner and that with a socket driver made short work of the retaining bolt. All the panels are on, everything starts up and works perfectly. I’m going to get a pal of mine who is a motor cycle mechanic to…[Read more]

    Thank you.

I was trying to use a medium sized screwdriver as a lever for those springs. I’m going to try a much longer one, but putting something on the end of the spring to give more purchase sounds like that would help too. I do have a molegrip. I’ll investigate if the screwdriver and zip tie fail.

    Hi. I’m Mark Toner.

I’m a science fiction publisher and I live in a solar=powered house in Dumfries, southwest Scotland. I just took delivery of my e-rider 30 today and I’ve started assembling it.

I’d welcome any advice on the tricky little retaining bolt on the handlebars and those pesky tight springs on the legs. I think some hot water is…[Read more]
